The proposal for a Resilient+Renewable Portfolio Standard, submitted by the Energy Future New Orleans coalition, will establish a 100 percent Renewable Energy Standard by 2040 and result in more jobs, greater emissions reductions, and more local investment than alternatives, and an energy system that is more prepared to withstand the realities of a changing climate.

Some key takeaways from the report:
  • By 2040, the EFNO scenario projects 341 MW of local solar, compared to only 106 MW in the ENO scenario and 120 MW in the Alt. 2 scenario.
  • IMPLAN estimates a total of 3,157 jobs will be supported throughout the construction of local solar in the EFNO scenario with $164.7 million in direct labor income.
  • The EFNO scenario supports approximately 387 jobs for ongoing operations and maintenance by 2041.
  • EFNO scenario would reduce carbon emissions by 53,520 tons from 2023 to 2040.

The economic impact study was commissioned by Audubon Louisiana, and conducted by GCR Inc., and compared the ENFO proposal scenario to a scenario based on Entergy New Orleans’ 2018 Integrated Resource Plan and a proposal submitted by the Utility Advisors to the Council of the City of New Orleans.
